CHILDRESS - Alvin Leo Stephens, 95, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with Cliff Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home.

Mr. Stephens was born Dec. 2, 1912, to James F. Stephens and Cora Strutton Stephens. He and the former Lillie Zuber married in 1935 in Childress.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Leo Stephens of Odessa; two daughters, Nelda Helms of Amarillo and Linda Farris of Quanah; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to Calvary Baptist Church, 1601 Ave. J N.W., Childress, TX 79201.
