Born May 21, 1930 in Bluefield, she was a daughter of the late Fred E. and Elizabeth Williams Doss. Mrs. Phillips was formerly employed by Kroger as a Baker in the deli Department and was a member of The Voice of Calvary Church located in Princeton.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Phillips, Sr.; and two sons, Edward L. Phillips, Jr., and Kenneth D. Phillips; and a brother, Alvin Doss.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy J. Barrett and husband Lee of Bluefield, Linda Gail Latham and husband James of Princeton; two sons, Daniel M. Phillips and wife Roseanne of Greenville, S.C., Johnny Phillips and companion Beth of Bluefield; three brothers, Pete Doss and wife Letha, Clarence Doss and wife Nellie, Harold Doss; a sister, Edith Smith and husband Lloyd; 13 grandchildren, Michael A. Perkins, Rodney Barrett, Jeffery Barrett, Heather Phillips, Chris Phillips, Misty Phillips, Joey Phillips, David Lee Phillips, Gregory Phillips, Tina Dillion, Tracey Proffitt, T.J. Latham, Candy Phillips; 11 great-grandchildren, special friends, Pauline Long, little Cody; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Phillips will be conducted from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday January 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with the Pastor Michael Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery located in Princeton.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be; grandsons, Michael Perkins, Jeff and Rodney Barrett Joey Phillips and friends, Skip Hamm, and Calvin Proffitt.
