Lucy was born July 28, 1923, in Rockingham County, North Carolina, to the late Nick Cardwell and Lillie Gann Cardwell. She was a past employee of Clarence Steak and Seafood House and Cato Fashions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rubin Smith and six siblings.
Survivors include her daughter Rita Bullins; granddaughters Kristi Sparks, Duana Bullins (JP); great-grandchildren Aaron Sparks (Caitlyn), Caroline Bullins, and Desmond Sparks; great-great-grandchildren Easton Sparks and Samuel Sparks.
