Obituary
Denise Ann Thomas, 68, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, at Olathe Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, 9510 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS, on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral mass. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Paola, KS.
Denise was born Wednesday, November 11, 1953, in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of Forrest L. and Elizabeth (Essner) Hunter. She graduated from Paola High School with the Class of 1971. She continued her education at Pittsburg State University.
Denise was united in marriage to William Thomas on May 28, 1994, in Overland Park. They made their home in Overland Park and became the parents of one daughter.
She worked at Black & Veatch as an administrative assistant for 43 years.
Denise did a lot of volunteering in her lifetime. She and her husband worked in their church with youth group and marriage preparation. They were members of a small faith community, Emmaus. She was very active in Pro-Life Activities in Overland Park and volunteered whenever possible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, and father-in-law.
Survivors include her husband Bill of the home; daughter Stephanie; her sister Nanette "Nan" Smith (Kevin) of Lone Jack, MO; her brother Jeffrey Hunter of Pomona; 4 grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
