John entered his heavenly home on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the age of 81 years. He was born on February 21, 1941, in Midland, MI, the son of Lloyd and Natalie Brooks. Shortly after his birth John was made a child of God through Holy Baptism. He reaffirmed his baptismal faith when he was confirmed in 1964 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bay City, MI. On October 3, 1964, John was united in marriage to Judith Roup of Auburn at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bay City. John attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He worked at Dow Chemical Corporation in Midland, MI from 1964-1976. Dow Chemical sent him on various assignments, including working on the Apollo Mission for NASA. Later, John was plant manager of the Eaton Corporation facility in Watertown, WI and Vice-President of Sales at Rockwell International in Milwaukee. During his time in Watertown John taught business courses at MATC.

John served as congregational president at Holy Scripture Lutheran Church in Midland, MI and helped build the church, school and parsonage. He was congregational president of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI. He also served on The WELS Coordinating Council and was instrumental in the formation of the video series, "WELS Connection."
He is survived by Judith; four children, Debra (Mark) Aufdemberge, John (Carrie) Brooks, Anna Brandt, and Sarah Brooks; seven grandsons, four granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter.

John enjoyed flying, receiving his pilot's license in 1962. He flew for recreation and also flew charter flights for Eaton Corporation. John also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time up north.
