Mattie Jean Thomas, 82, of Decatur, IL passed away March 1, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Mattie was born January 6, 1940 in Brownsville, TN, the daughter of Johnny and Lillian (Coppage) Jones. She married Johnny F. Thomas Sr and he preceded her in death.

Mattie was a member of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers and was even known to have grown a cotton plant in her yard. She loved her church and study of her bible.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; parents; brothers, A.J. Jones, John Andrew Jones, LB Jones; sister, Josie Mae Owens; grandsons, Jarvis Leo Thomas, Leo Thomas III; great granddaughter, My'Asia Starr Logan; and daughter-in-law, Anita Thomas.

Homegoing Celebration will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 12, 2022 at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
