Thomas Neil Turner, 74 of Lovelady, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in The Woodlands Methodist Hospital. Tommy was born August 20, 1947, in Houston, Texas to parents Stanley Arthur and Merle Atholine Little Turner.

He graduated from LaPorte High School in 1966 and attended San Jacinto Junior College. Tommy enjoyed his work as the terminal manager for Central Freight Lines in Crockett, Texas, and as the Southern Division Manager for Coy and Jones Freight Lines for a total of 27 years. Later, Tommy began a 20 year career with The Texas Department of Corrections Institutional Division at the Eastham Unit. He served as a correctional officer retiring from TDCJ in 2012. It was while Tommy was working at Central Freight that he became involved in the following Civic organizations: Lathrop Masonic Lodge of Crockett, President of the Crockett Jaycees and the Kiwanis International of Crockett. Tommy served as Vice President of the Crockett Chamber of Commerce and the State Vice President for Region IV of the Texas Jaycees. He was also Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 419 while it was held in the Lovelady Methodist Church facilities. Thomas was an active member of his Civil War re-enactment organization 1st Tx Partisan Rangers Cavalry Dismounted. Previously belonging to Terry's Tx Rangers Cavalry, 11th Tx Cav, and Speight's Artillery, of Louisiana. Tommy's love for family, camping, civil war re-enacting, hunting on his 3 T Ranch property, reading, and sharing history, and building WWII models and train layouts were life-long hobbies. Because of his love for the outdoors, Tommy and, his family enjoyed their annual summer campout on the Frio River and built numerous lasting friendships with fellow campers for over 52 years.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Glenda Massey Turner whom he married in Houston, Tx on December 16, 1966, Parents of two Sons, Grandsons , one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Tommy is preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Atholine Turner, brother Jerry Wayne Turner.

Memorial services and inurnment will be held at the Antioch Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas. Date and time are pending and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in his name.
