With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joseph Harold Taylor (Florissant, Missouri), who passed away on March 1, 2022. Born on October 21st of 1932, Joseph "Joe" Taylor grew up in north St Louis, Missouri, working from humble beginnings in his youth selling flowers in local taverns and delivering telegrams on bicycle to help support his parents and family. His hard work ethic and commitment to providing for family led him to Bussmann Fuse Company, where he met his beloved wife, Lily. He served in the Navy from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War on the USS Bryce Canyon; and retired from the Hazelwood School District, dedicating most of his adult life to civil service.

Outside of work, Joe was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Duchesne Council, parishioner of St. Sabina Church in Florissant, and member the Ancient Order of Hibernians in St. Charles, MO. His proudest achievement, however, was his marriage of 65 years to Lily and their 2 beautiful daughters Bridget and Cissy, 5 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Lily Rose Taylor and their stillborn son Joseph Gregory Taylor, his mother Margie Louise Holtz, father Joseph Lawrence "Larry" Taylor, and brothers Jack Taylor and Jerry Taylor.

He will be missed and cherished by many people, but most of all: his children, Bridget Ann Kientzy (Drew Trautman) and Cecelia "Cissy" Broyles (Bob); grandchildren, Christa "Love" Fitzgerl (Ed), Joseph Thorpe (Lindsay), Mathew Kientzy, Gerald Druba and Laura Edmiston (Josh); great-grandchildren, William "Wil" Fitzgerl, Taylor "McGuirk" Fitzgerl, Cameryn Thorpe, Lucian Thorpe, Patrick Druba, Norah Druba, Larson Edmiston, Urijah Edmiston, Maverick "Wood" Edmiston and McCoy Edmiston; sister Marian Louise "Mary-Lou" Marlow, and many nieces and nephews who were blessed to call him "Uncle Joe."

Though sometimes quiet and unassuming, Joe was a perfectionist in everything he did and an avid competitor with amazing abilities. From playing pool, trivia, horseshoes, and Wiffle ball to bowling, fishing, and winning carnival games (stuffed animals) for his grandkids, Joe was the man that always came through for his teammates and family. He often surprised people with his determination and skills that seemed to get better with age. In 1996 at the age of 64, he was inducted into The Bowling Hall of Fame & Museum for bowling a perfect 300 game and 700 series.

Joe and Lil will be remembered most for their love and faith in God, selfless sacrifice, and unconditional loyalty to family.

Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family. Donations may be made to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Memorials/Donations or St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, Mo. 63385
