Obituary, published in "The Daily Times" (Salisbury, MD) on Mon., June 27, 1960, on page 8:

"FLETCHER W. BARKLEY

Fletcher W. Barkley, 66, Negro, of Salisbury, died Saturday in the Peninsula General Hospital, following a prolonged illness. He was a veteran of World War I.

He was the son of the late John and Fannie Barkley of Eden, and the husband of the late Mrs. Alberta Barkley of Salisbury.

Surviving are a son, Calvin Barkley, Wilmington; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Johnson, Jersey City, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Cornish, Allen, and Mrs. Catherine Hunt, Philadelphia, and Miss Martha Barkley, Asbury Park, N.J.; a brother, Walter Barkley, Asbury Park; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Flower Hill Methodist Church, Eden, with the Rev. Clarence Handy, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call tonight after 7 o'clock at the Thornton Jolley Memorial Chapel."
