Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Flower Hill Methodist Negro Church in Eden for John William Barkley, 88, Salisbury Negro, who died Wednesday in Deer's Head State Hospital here following several months of illness.
His wife was the late Fannie Mae Barkley.
Surviving are six children: Mrs. Oliver Cornish, Fletcher W. Barkley, and Charlie J. Barkley, of Salisbury; Mrs. Kate Hunt of Philadelphia; and Miss Margaret Barkley and Walter E. Barkley of Eden. A brother, Coulborne Barkley, lives in Eden. There are 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Clarence Handy, pastor of the Eden Church, will officiate.
Interment will be in the church cemetery."
