Jeffrey Lucas Gecowets, 53 of Dayton, Ohio passed away, Friday, March 4, 2022 in Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio due to heart failure.

Jeff was born April 12, 1968 in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a 1986 graduate of Urbana High School and he received his Bachelor of Science degree from Wright State University in 1991.

Jeff was an avid fan of Wright State University basketball, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Buffalo Bills. Jeff was a community minded individual. He served and worked at the voting polls in Montgomery County in Dayton as a Republican worker. He was an active member and Past Master of the Harmony Lodge #8 F. & A. M. in 2011. He also participated and was a member of the Urbana Chapter #34, Urbana Council #59, Raper Commandery #19, Dewey Muster #177, Springfield Grotto and the Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite. He also participated in many Masonic activities in the greater Dayton area.

His survivors include, his parents, Jerry L. and Mary Lee (Lucas) Gecowets; his sister, Julie (Dr. Dan) Taylor; niece, Katherine Taylor, nephews, Michael Taylor and Alex Taylor; uncles, Ronald Gecowets, Norman (Jeanne) Gecowets and Thomas V. Noll as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Jeff is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Ruth Lucas, his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Ruby Gecowets and his aunts, Mary Gecowets and Cheryl Noll.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana; where Masonic honors will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services to Celebrate Jeff's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Lillibridge officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Legacy Mausoleum at OakDale Cemetery, Urbana, Ohio.
