Charlie was born in New Orleans, LA on October 17,1948 to the late Reverend Murphy Bowman, Sr and Willie Mae White Bowman. He was a 1967 graduate of Walter L Cohn High School and was a proud Green Hornet. Shortly after graduating high school he joined the United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. As a soldier in the US Army he traveled to Hawaii, Vietnam, and Germany. After serving his country he was granted an honorable discharge, he later began his civilian career with the International Longshoremen's Association.

Charlie grew up in a loving Christian home with his parents and siblings. Going to church was a "must" in their household. He was baptized at a young age, and was a member of Second True Love Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Fred Green.

Charlie's proud moments included the birth of his three children; Charles Bowman, Jr (deceased), Cheryl Bowman, and Charlie LaCoste.Charlie met the love of his life Penny Reid Brumfield on April 17, 2016. They married exactly one year later, April 17, 2017. They shared a love like no other. It was only on rare occasions you would see one without the other. Charlie joined Rising Star Baptist Church in 2017 under the leadership of Pastor Donald Brown, Sr. He served as a faithful member until his death.

Charlie was a man with many gifts and talents. He was a Mr. Fix-It (there was very little he couldn't do with his hands). He was an avid outdoorsman. A lover of motorcycles. He loved traveling across the country, driving up hills, through mountains in his mighty RV with his wife and two fur babies Royal and Honey by his side. He stayed on top of current events happening in his community and around the world. Charlie was a member of Brothers United New Orleans, Inc. and Soul Knights, Inc. Motorcycle Clubs.
