Alvin B. Hayes, son of Ezra and Clare Hayes, was born in Champaign county, Illinois, July 23, 1860, and died at his home in Bachelor township near Eureka, Kansas, July 26, 1929, at the age of 69 years and 3 days.
He had two sisiter that died in childhood. He with his parents came to Valley Falls, Kansas in 1869. His father died in 1872, leaving him at the age of 12 with his mother where he remained until the time of his marriage to Louise A. Tebow, February 6, 1884, at Valley Falls, where they lived until the spring of 1901, then moved to a Greenwood county farm where he resided until his death.
To this union were born eight children, Mrs. Dela Marnenk, Mrs. Edith Hall, Mrs. Nora Aaro, of near Eureka, Orville A., of Chehalis, Wash., George W., of Los Angeles, Calif., Earl H., of Waukmois, Okla., and Deforest and Clara who died when quite young. Mr. Hayes leaves to mourn his death, his wife, six children and nine grandchildren and a host of friends.
Mr. Hayes has been a member of the Christian Church since 1893.
