Lois Jeanette (Jan) Nilges passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020, at 6:10 p.m. She was surrounded by much of her family members and left the world as peacefully as when she arrived. Jan was born on April 15, 1941, to Rachel Etta Brown Wright and Andrew B. Wright in Joplin, MO.
Jan had been blessed with the opportunity to experience both the country life, as well as the city life. Early in Jan's livelihood she was a horse enthusiast, she helped to preside, with her husband, over multiple breeds of livestock, harvesting fields of produce and grain, all while nurturing her young children. Later in life, Jan became a salon owner and beautician in multiple cities. Jan loved helping others feel and look beautiful. After many years, Jan followed her heart and returned to her birthplace of Joplin, where she became an exceptional care giver to many, by opening her home and sharing the love that she had for life.
Jan is survived by her sister, Bonnie Jacobs, two daughters: Jennifer Lynn Bass and Laura Ann Rice, one son, Zane Burton Sexton, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew B. Wright, Burt and Rachel Coile, a sister, Nina Deslatte and brother, Cecil Wright.
Jan frequently attended the Central Christian Center, to pay her respects to our Lord. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Central Christian Center, in care of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory, Joplin, MO.
