Samuel Leroy Wright Sr., 88, of Tunnelton, Pa., passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at UPMC East in Monroeville, Pa.

He was born on Sunday, February 18, 1934 in Anita, Pa. the son of the late John and Elzada Travis Wright.

He was a member of the Tunnelton Presbyterian Church. Sam was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. Before his retirement, he was a coal miner for the Tunnelton Mining Co. Sam was a member of the C & Y Sportsman Club, UMWA Local Union 6986, Life member and Founder of the Tunnelton VFD and a member of the American Legon. He loved gardening, canning, going to auctions, tinkering on cars and his dogs, Taffy and Candy but mostly loved being with his family.

He is survived by his children; Samuel L. Wright Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Jacqueline Johnson and her husband, Larry, Gwendolyn Cerra and her husband, Mark and Yvonne Fails and her husband, Ken; 16 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette M. Lackner Wright, his son; David R. Lyons and his brothers; John Wright and William Wright and his sisters; Beverly Weimer, Betty Dunkleberger and Naomi Fink.
