Mary Ann Cox of New Cumberland passed at the Weirton Medical Center on Monday, March 7, 2022, following a brief illness. She was 86 years old.

She was born in Morgantown, WV., on June 12, 1935. Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Frank and Nora Deusenbery Stabene.

Mary Ann's most joyous memories were of time spent with her grandchildren. Her years were spent as a loving homemaker in addition to working at several local grocery stores. She was an accomplished and published poet, loved raising beautiful flowers and she was famous for her baking and cooking. A Catholic by faith, she was a graduate of Morgantown High School.

Along with her parents, her husband, Eugene Cox Sr., and her sisters, Becky Cutino, Lydia Diane Stabene, and Gloria Jean Stabene preceded her in death.

Mary Ann leaves her children, Eugene "Butch" Cox Jr., and his wife Janice of New Cumberland, David Cox and his wife, Cindy of Chester, and Tammy Jones and her husband Jeff of Zanesville, OH., and her sister, Nancy Shahan of Star City, WV. Also, she will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Benjamin Cox, Amy Pellgrino, Travis Jones (Courtney), Frank Cox (Cathy), and Kelli Collins (Zach); and her great-grandchildren, Oliver Jones, Aubrey Jones, Mia Collins, Hadley Jones, and Camden Collins.

Mary Ann's family and friends will celebrate her life on Saturday, March 12, at 11:00 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Interment will follow at the New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
