Steven Lee Bennett, age 60, of Dover, Ohio, died following a severe heart attack on February 26, 2022.

Born on September 22, 1961, at Montgomery, WV, he was a son of the late John Wesley I and Elizabeth J. "Libby" (Bucy) Bennett.

On March 16, 2017, he married his loving wife, Janet, and is also survived by his daughters,
Hannah and Sarah Bennett and their mother, Julie Bennett. Completing the family are his siblings Sheila (Rudy) Bennett of Canton, John Wesley I (Jeanne) Bennett of Carrollton, Lyletta (Jim) Brown of Waynesburg, and Allan (Yi Xiu) Bennett of Canton as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family whom he loved and cherished.

A 1982 graduate of Tuscarawas Valley High School, he spent his early years in the Sandy Valley area.
Steve worked at New Philadelphia City Schools as the daytime custodian at Central Elementary. One of his biggest joys were greeting the children each day and collaborating with the staff. Steve was a member of the Church of Christ East Sparta and New Philadelphia. His faith was an integral part of his life and strived to be a good Christian man of faith. Steve was well known within the AA community, helping countless others toward a life of sobriety, and made friendships that he cherished. His love for helping others was part of his being until the day he departed.

The family will greet guests on Friday, March 11, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Minister Keith Kull will lead a celebration of Steve's life on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 10:30 AM. A dessert reception of Steve's favorite treats will follow the service in the Funeral Center's Hospitality Room.
