Life Legacy

Charles Everett Flowers was born September 17, 1955, in Helena, AR to Mrs. Fannie Mae Flowers and Mr. Robert Flowers. Charles accepted Christ as His Savior in 1965 and baptized at Second Baptist Church with Rev. E.I. Eiland.

Charles attended and was educated in the Helena-West Helena School District and he is a graduate of the Central High School Class of 1973. He continued his education and obtained two degrees from the University of Arkansas at Phillips Community College. Charles was united in Holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart Mrs. Iola Parker Flowers for 49 years. Their hearts beat as one- soulmates, best friends. To this union are 3 sons and one daughter and a grandson they raised as their son: Parasha, Devern, Bakaris, Karmen, & BJ- who made their hearts smile.

During his young life, Charles served as the West Helena paperboy.

Charles served his country in the U.S. Army, employed with the Phillips Co. Sheriff Department, Retired Captain of the Helena-West Helena Police Department, & served as Supervising Officer of the Arkansas Department of Corrections. After retirement, he enjoyed employment with the Mid-Delta Community services and volunteering with the Helena-West Helena Senior Citizens Center. His favorite hobbies included cooking, fishing, debating with family and friends, auto mechanics, motorcycling, reading, an advent fan of blues music and talk radio, and spending quality time with his family. He loved talking and laughing with everyone he came in contact with! Charles lived his life as a loving, charismatic, energetic person that this community, world, and family will truly miss.

He is preceded by his son, Bakaris Charles Flowers, Sr.; mother, Fannie Mae O'Neal; Fathers, Robert Flowers and Eddie O'Neal; brother, Hollis Tate; grandmothers, Leeanna Williams and Hattie Young; and a grandfather, Ben Young.

Charles is survived by his loving & devoted wife Mrs. Iola Parker Flowers, his children: Parasha, Devern, Karmen, BJ; grandchildren: Kerry, Paris, Arianna, Amari, Jordan; great-grandson Bakaris Charles Flowers III; His Brothers: Kirby Tate, Walter Flowers, Robert Flowers, Lewis O'Neal, Chris O'Neal (Florice); His sisters: Felicia McDonald (Randy), Gloria Williams (Donald), Dollie Kincaid, Vivian Patterson, Sharon Washington (Earnest); and his uncle Ezekiel Young; Three sisters-in-law: Viola Parker Buford (George), Charlean Parker, and Anna Bowden.
