Mary Lou Ray McGee was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 24, 1945 to Louis and Annie Ray. She gained her wings on Sunday February 27, 2022 in her home in Wichita Falls, Texas.
A Celebration of Mary's life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in the Chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
Throughout her life she accomplished many things. She graduated high school and worked her first job at Holiday Inn where she perfected her love for folding the fitted sheet and making a bed with absolutely no wrinkles.
During the early 90s she attended Galilee Church of God and Christ under the leadership of Pastor Floyd Dixon. Mary also enjoyed doing missionary work with her daughter Leisa. They'd spend their days praying for the sick and spreading the gospel.
In 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, at the age of 60 Mary and her family relocated to the small town of Wichita Falls, Texas (chosen by her daughter Denise). Mary later declared Wichita Falls as her home & decided not to move back to the city.
Even in her old age Mary enjoyed keeping up with the latest fashion. You'd always catch her in a vibrant dashiki and many times paired with Jordan slides. She was a glamorous woman. It showed throughout her wardrobe and home decor. As her son Timothy put it, "She just shined." As Mary got further up in age her son Thomas played a major role in executing her style throughout her home.
She enjoyed watching movie marathons and 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family with her children and grandchildren. She was very family oriented and led with love. Her cooking was an all-time favorite throughout the family. I'm sure we can all recall the numerous early mornings she'd get up making breakfast to the later evenings of her making her perfectly cut homemade fries.
Mary McGee was preceded in death by her mother and father, several siblings, sons Douglas McArthur Williams Jr. and Dennis McGee, and daughters Leisa and Karen Williams and Denise McGee. Mary leaves behind to continue her legacy 5 children. Sons Timothy Williams Sr., Thomas McGee, & Benji McGee. Daughters Aundrell Williams and Sharon McGee. 5 siblings, Joann McMillon, Barbara, John, Gerald, & David Ray. And and abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren whom she affectionately referred to as her, "Fat Turkeys." & and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Mary will be missed by anyone ever graced with her presence. She was a beautiful humble being that loved God, her children, and grandchildren. May we find comfort in her comfort and may we lead a life she'd be proud of.
