AUTOPSY WILL BE HELD FOR HAMMER BABY
An autopsy, to determine the exact cause of the death of Charles, four month old son of Mr. and Mrs. George P. Hammer of No 149 Cottage addition, Longview, will be held some time today, it was announced today by Nat R. Smith, deputy coroner.
The baby was found dead yesterday afternoon about 3:30 o'clock when she returned from a call at a neighbor's home. It had been lying on a bed in the house when the mother left, apparently all right. None of the other children were at home. It is believed the baby choked to death, although it had been ill for a number of weeks, and the visiting nurse has been in attendance at the house several times.
When the mother returned and found the baby, she immediately called a local physician. When the doctor arrived the child was dead. He was the youngest of a family of 10 children, who with the mother and father lived in the two-room house. The family has been n partially dependent circumstances for the past several months, local welfare officials stated. The body was taken to the Nat R. Smith funeral home in Kelso. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. The other children of the family are Joseph, 12; George, 10; Evelyn, 9; Alice, 8; Tom, 6: Leslie, 5; Doris, 4; Peter, 3; and James
