Walter "Lexie" Stanley, age 87, passed away at his home on Friday, February 25, 2022.

Lexie was born in Greensboro, NC on May 25, 1934, the son of the late Christopher and Florence Stanley. Lexie served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for AC Corporation for over 40 years. Lexie loved so many things in life: work, the Carolina Tarheels, playing softball, watching his grandkids play basketball, playing cards, his friends, watching old Western movies, but his main love was God, his wife and family.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Dee; children: Roger (Cathy), Kim (Tony), Tracie (Gary), Donald (Tracy); grandchildren: Dwayne, Jonathan, Walter (Haley), TB (Kayla), Travis (Summer), Ridge, Brittany (Matt), Erika (Mike), Faith, Dawn (Bryant), Stephanie (Todd). Also surviving are his great-grandchildren: Trey, Ahna, Jaxon, Jordan, Jon, Walter, Cade, Juniper, Aubree, Owen, Lily, Ethan, McKinley, Austin, Rayven, Jayden, Eli, Haylee, Kierra and Ryan and his sister, Sadie Collier. Preceded in death by his daughter Pam, grandchildren, Tripp and Jesse and his siblings, Lois, Claire, Marty, Florence, Arthur, Curly, David, Alfred and Henry. Lexie and Dee fostered 47 children during his life.

A memorial service will be held at Charity Baptist Church, 4079 Battleground Avenue, Greensboro, NC on March 6, 2022 at 2 p.m. with visitation immediately following.
