Hurley Ray Rountree Jr., 72, died Jan. 1, 2008 at his home. He was born in Clearwater and moved to Vero Beach in 1959 from Gainesville.
He received his master's degree from the University of Florida where he was a member of Alpa Kappa Rho Fraternity.
He was a self-employed citrus farmer.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach, serving as president of his Sunday school class, and a member of various bible studies and a past member of the church choir.
Survivors include his son, Chris Rountree of Marietta, GA; daughter, Cathy Elliott of Sanford; step-sons, Billy Cochrane of Hurricane, WV, Frank Cochrane of Wellington, Stan Cochrane of West Palm Beach and Will Cochrane of Franklin, VA; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice Rountree; and brother Rodney Rountree.
