Dr. Rodney Darryl Hood passed away on September 23, 2020, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 25, 1951, the son of Oscar Dewitt Hood III and Nell Hood Boynton. He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, Col. Walker L. Boynton, and brother, Michael Dewitt Hood.

Dr. Hood was a graduate of Glenelg High School in Glenelg, Maryland. He attended the University of Maryland, where he completed the requirements of his undergraduate degree. He continued his education, receiving his doctorate of dental surgery from Howard University School of Dentistry. Always trying to employ the latest techniques in dentistry for his patients, Dr. Hood also completed advanced degrees from Temple University School of Dentistry. He was an active member of Sigma Pi Phi and Omega Psi Phi.

Dr. Hood had an appreciation for a wide variety of music, especially smooth jazz. He loved football and played wide receiver for his high school varsity team. He was a devout Philadelphia Eagles fan. He also enjoyed downhill skiing, traveling with his family, and spending quality time with his friends.

Dr. Hood is survived by his wife, Traci Wolfe Hood, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, his children, Ryan Alexander Hood and Sydney Alexis Hood, his stepson, Eric Von Harris Wolfe of Richmond, Virginia, his mother, Nell Boynton of Ellicott City, Maryland, his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Maria Boynton, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, his sister-in-law, Rita Lynn Hood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his brother-in-law, Troy Guy Wolfe, of West New York, New York, his niece, Michelynn Hood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his nephew, Jason Hood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his former wife, Janice Williams of Columbia, Maryland, his beloved dog Woody, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
