Susan Jelmini-Haynes, 76, passed away on February 24, 2022.

Sue was born to Collis P.Haynes and Doris (Jelmini) Haynes on July 5, 1945, in Houston, Texas.

Around age 4, Sue moved with her family to El Campo, TX.

She graduated from El Campo High School in 1963. In 1967, she earned a degree in Music Education at Dominican College in Houston, TX. She completed a Masters degree in Humanities/Fine Arts, with photography and theater emphasis, in 1985 at the University of Houston in Clear Lake, TX. Sue received a second Masters degree in Educational Administration with teacher certification in 1986 at the same university. She continued her education at the University of Nevada in Reno in Music Education and Voice, as well as worked towards a Kodaly Certification for music educators at Holy Name College in Oakland, CA, and Texas State University, San Marcos, TX.

Sue was a quintessential Music Educator, loving and teaching children from Kindergarten through 12th grade for 40 years. She developed music curriculum for all ages, taught other music educators, and conducted countless performances with elementary school children.

Sue was also a liturgical music director, organist, and soloist for various churches throughout her career, often creating children's choirs for the religious organizations. In her personal music-filled life, Sue was a notable singer and actress in musicals and dramas in community and professional productions, often performing lead roles.

Sue was passionate about helping animal rescue organizations. In Georgetown she served on the board of the Friends of the Georgetown Animal Shelter. Sue also was Vice President of the American Association of University Women when she lived in Incline Village, NV.

In her undergraduate years at Dominican College, Sue captured the heart of the first male to matriculate at the all-girl college, Marion Nesvadba.

After the heartbreak of losing their first child at birth, Jeremiah Collis, in 1971, they rejoiced in the birth of their beautiful daughter, Mary Susan, in 1972. After Sue's first marriage dissolved, she lived in several cities, always making music with children as a teacher.

After moving to San Francisco in 1990, Sue met her second husband, Robert Comperchio. With Bob she spent happy years in San Francisco and Incline Village, NV, before they moved back to Sue's home state of Texas. They built their dream house in Dripping Springs, and then moved in 2012 to Sun City, Georgetown, TX. Bob passed away in 2019.

This was Susan Jelmini-Haynes: a loving, proud, and supportive mother and mother-in-law who was the biggest fan of her dancer daughter and musician/band leader son-in-law; a caring big sister to her four sisters; a loving furbaby mom to her dog Stella and cat Samuel, as well as to many precious cats over the years; a passionate animal lover and animal rescue volunteer; a talented musician, photographer, and actress; a true lover of the arts; a serious, beautiful fashionista with awesome shopping powers and a huge shoe collection for her tiny size 5 feet; a designer of beautiful home interiors; a terrible driver but fantastic back seat driver; a thoroughly delightful human being who was witty, well read, vivacious, funny, a bit goofy, full of irreverent humor, and who had a wild and well-used laugh.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Mary Nesvadba (Dennis Blake) of NY; sisters Nancy Haynes of San Francisco, CA; Cathy Haynes Pfahl (Walter) of Mount Vernon, WA; Judy Haynes Bures of California; Lori Haynes Tawil (Alan) of Wimberley, TX; nieces Holly, Joni, Annie, Angie, Dori, and nephew Jordan.

A Celebration of Life gathering for Sue will be on April 30, 2022, from 1:30-3:30 PM at the Cowan Creek Park Pavilion at Cowan Creek Golf Club, 1433 Cool Spring Way, Building 3, Georgetown, TX, 78633.
