Charles Papenfuss, 95, Hamilton, ND died Sunday, October 19, 1997, in Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND.

Charles H. Papenfuss was born November 7, 1901, the son of Frederick and Freida (Rusch) Papenfuss, in Glasston, ND, where he attended school. He worked as a taxicab drive in Saskatoon, Sask., from 1922 to 1929. He farmed with his nephews in Hamilton, retiring in 1989. He married Myrtle Campbell in March 1935. She died July 1942. He married Vyolet Bjornson on February 8, 1979, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Vyolet; stepchildren: Judith (Duane) Reed, Fargo, ND; Douglas (Pat) Bjornson, Golden Valley, ND; Mayo (Iva) Bjornson, National City, MI; and Brent (Linda) Bjornson, Gardar, ND; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters; and four brothers.

Services: Thursday, October 23, 1997, at United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND.
