Sharon Yvette Medley was born April 8, 1952, in Winchester, VA, the daughter of Richard Louis Medley and Julia Mae Stern Medley. She was raised in Stephens City, VA and attended James Wood High School. She completed the Dowell J. Howard Practical Nursing Program in 1977 and continued her Nursing Education at Shenandoah University. She later went on to complete the Surgical Tech Program at Winchester Medical Center in 1995. Although Sharon's passion and continued education was in Nursing, she spent most of her career working with at risk and disabled children. She worked at the E&S Center and NREP but spent most of her career with Grafton School in Berryville, VA, as a Residential Coordinator. She loved working with the staff and the kids there. She retired in August 1997 after nearly 16 years of employment.

Sharon married Charles Wesley Washington on July 29, 1967, in Stephens City, VA. Through this union they raised four children. They were married almost 53 years until Mr. Washington passed on June 26, 2020. Sharon loved spending time with her family, especially all of "her babies." She enjoyed family game nights, playing Phase 10 and UNO, often writing her own rules, referring to colors like "ble-dueee" and always making sure to discard all the green cards in her hand. She liked to accuse others of cheating, took forever to play her hand, and made sure to hum her victory tune if she felt like she was doing something game changing. Sharon enjoyed watching football and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, something she shared with her youngest son and son-in-law. She was also an amazing cook and baker. She loved feeding and surprising her family with their favorite foods and meals, even if it was just grocery items she knew they wanted. She enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren recipes and skills she learned from her mom or that she created herself. And she enjoyed dissecting their recipes and providing tips and tricks to help them improve.

More than anything, Sharon loved the Lord! She grew up with her parents and siblings, serving at the Glorious Church of God in Christ in Stephens City, VA. She accepted Christ at a young age and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost in May 1983. She loved praising and worshipping God wherever she was. That was her sanctuary. She enjoyed hearing the preached Word of God, reading the Bible, watching her favorite preachers on YouTube and listening to her favorite songs on her Kindle. She loved singing with her family "The Medley Family" and was often referred to as an "al-prano" as she regularly had to be reminded to sing the right part. She also loved playing the tambourine. She'd beat it in the air, but when her arms got tired, she'd just tap it on her leg or pass it to someone else to continue. Some of her favorite songs included Lord I Just Wanna Thank You, When I Think of the Goodness of Jesus, My Help, and most recently God Is and Mercy. And whenever she heard a praise report, she'd often say, as her mother did, "Who wouldn't serve a God like that??!"

Sharon went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 13, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Charles Wesley Washington, Jr. of Winchester, VA and William Ray Jenkins (Norissa) of Martinsburg, WV; two daughters, Charmissa Denise-Elizabeth Biscoe (Kevin) of Stephens City, VA and Keysha Dawn Mathes (Gregg) of Winchester, VA; five granddaughters, Twana Myers, Nykeya Paige (Benjamin), Shauneece and Asia Mathes, and Tasha Virts (Billy); nine grandsons, Gregory Mathes, Sr. (Jacquelyn), Robert Thomas (Ieshia Fogle), Tyrell Biscoe (December), and William, Jr., Asaion, ZyQuay, Neko, Amir, and Kyyon Jenkins; nine great-grandchildren; Amani, Amaya, & Aryanna Thomas; Gregory, Jr., McKenzie & Zoe Mathes, Shawn Virts, and Korben & Selah Paige, and three God-great grandchildren, Aeriuna, Xavion, & Amorah Elliott; two sisters, Denise Medley of Winchester, VA and Ellena "Toni" McBride (Gregory) of Stephens City, VA, two brothers, Dennis Medley of Raleigh, NC and Blane Medley (Ginger) of Miami, FL; two nieces that she held close, Kristen Doleman of Martinsburg, WV and Julia McBride of Stephens City, VA; four sisters-in-law, Elizabeth W. Washington (James) and Christine E. Washington of Winchester, VA, Charlena M. Childs of Laurel, MD, and Barbara J. Washington of Edge Water Park, NJ; a Spiritual Sister, Gwendolyn Bangura of Roanoke, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends that she loved dearly. In addition to her parents and her husband, a grandson, Joshua Allen Washington and a brother, Richard L. Medley, Jr. preceded her in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30pm, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, VA with Minister Charmissa D. Biscoe officiating. Please wear red and feel free to bring your tambourine.
