JOHN W. CARNES CALLED BY DEATH.
WELL KNOWN CHESTER TOWNSHIP FARMER DIES AT HOME WEDNESDAY.

John W. Carnes, 67, well known Chester township farmer, passes away at his home at 11:30 a. m. Wednesday following a long illness.

The deceased was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, a son of William and Hannah (Booth)Carnes, and was 67 years, 2 months and 20 days of age at the time of his death. He spent practically his entire life in Wells county and had a host of friends who will mourn his death.

This first marriage was to Ella Harris, who died October 16, 1926. His second marriage was to Cynthia Julian, who survives.

Brothers and sisters are: Robert S. Carnes, Keystone; Mrs. W. H. Merriman, deceased; William H. Carnes, Keystone; George W. Carnes, Hanfield, Ind., and Myrtle Harris, Bluffton.

Children surviving are: Floyd, Seminole, Kan.; Stella M. Sills, Chester township; Vaughn O., of Hartford City; Guy P., of Lagrange; Homer J., Madison, Kan.; Lella M. Shadle, Poneto; William e. Hammond, and Glenna G. Balmer, Walkerville, Mich.

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Friday at the New Hope church, in charge of Rev. David Clark. Burial will be at Snow cemetery.
