Leicester– John Max Carter, Jr., 71, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 27, 2022.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 2019 from McGill Associates, P.A. after 20 years of service where he served as an Electrical Designer. He was a 1969 graduate of Erwin High School, received three Associates Degrees from A-B Tech, and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He loved to work on cars and was a member of several car clubs.

John was the son of the late John Max Carter, Sr. and Elsie Mae Plemmons Carter.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Sharon Gail Carter of the home; son, Chad Preston Carter (Leah) of Asheville; grandson, Walt Max Carter of Asheville; sister, Teresa Kline (Dee) of LaQuinta, CA and her sons, Anthony (Ashley) of Corte Madera, CA and Jonathan (Ashley) of Anaheim Hills, CA, and many cousins and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, with Rev. Butch Stillwell officiating.
