David attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Calvert Hall High School. He worked for L. Greif Clothing Manufacturers, B&O Railroad and also The Bendix 3 Corporation in Towson, Maryland.
In 1966 he met his future wife, Ann. They were married on June 15, 1968. David then was hired by The University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned his Bachelor's of Science degree. David worked for the Electrical Engineering Department, where he was the facilities manager. He oversaw the Crystal Growth Facility and became a photo-lithographer.
David was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, George R. Gosnell; brother-in-law, Frank J. Matranga; great-nephew, Nolan Reid Burtrim; and great-nephew-in-law, P.J. Burtrim, lieutenant in the Baltimore City Fire Dept.
David leaves behind his grieving wife of nearly 54 years, Ann; his sister, Darleen; nieces Mariann Umstead, Michele Henninger and Melinda Himpler; and nephews Matthew and Sam Himpler and Joe Matranga. He also leaves behind a great-niece, Rachel Burtrim, and great-nephew, John Spiegel, and his children, Kaylee and Kaden.
David will be sorely missed by all who knew his kind and gentle soul.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, March 26, at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.
