Eric James Simpson, 59 died unexpectedly Thursday, February 24, 2022, at his home in South Royalton, VT.

He was born December 3, 1962 in Lebanon, NH the son of Gene and Alverne (Lee) Simpson. He attended schools in Lebanon, NH.

Eric had been married to Minnie Owen, Deborah Gardner and Kimberly Gankiewicz. On November 13, 2009 he married Valerie Davis French of White River Junction, VT. He had worked as an auto mechanic in Tennessee. He also worked in Alabama and as a sheetrocker for Gary Irish of South Royalton, VT.

He enjoyed wood carving, small engine repair, radio controlled cars and before an accident, motorcycles. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his animals. Eric was proud of the fact that he was related to Gen. Robert E. Lee. He loved his family and friends and was proud of all his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Valerie Simpson of South Royalton, VT; his son Anthony Simpson of Norwich, VT; two granddaughters Alexis and Allyson; his stepmother Rachel Hutchinson; his stepchildren Kael French, Jessye-Adeline French Gould, Myrandah French, Katrina Coffin, Zachary McCarthy and Megan Fogg; four step grandchildren, Lilith,Damon, Cora and Kayla; three sisters, Sandra Simpson Lorton, Kim Simpson and Charlene Hutchinson; two step brothers Malcom Hutchinson and Everett Hutchinson; three step sisters Diana Pollard, Connie Goodchild and Gwen Fisher and severel nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his father Gene Simpson; his mother Alverne Simpson-Hutchinson; stepfather Malcom Hutchinson; grandparents Pelatiah Lee, Mabel French and Ola Gray; his Uncle Robert Rickets and a sister Deborah Simpson Blodgett.

A celebration of Eric's life will be held at a later date to be announced.
