Virginia York Reynolds was born October 17, 1934, in Cartersville to parents, The Rev. Arthur Wesley York and Ruby Edwards York. She graduated from Cedartown High School in 1951 and attended Tift College/Mercer University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She also received Master's and Specialist's degrees in education from Georgia College.
She met the love of her life, Julian Clarence Reynolds Sr. while working as a dietician at the FFA/FHA camp in Covington in the summer of 1957. They were married in 1958 in Lilburn, enjoying 64 years of marriage until their death.
Mrs. Reynolds was an educator in several school systems, including in Savannah, Zebulon, and Dublin, where she taught English, reading, and Home Economics. She retired from Dublin Junior High in 1999.
One of the three musical "York Sisters," Mrs. Reynolds led children's choirs at several churches and sang in the First Baptist Dublin Chancel Choir for many years.
She was the Dublin High School Tip-Off Club president for eight years and was a "True Blue" member and past president of the Dublin Service League. She was named the Dublin St. Patrick's Festival's Woman of the Year in 1989.
Mrs. Reynolds had a servant's heart and a gift for hospitality. She enjoyed hosting tailgates at the Bolton "bus stop" in Athens, where she tirelessly ensured that all were well-fed before, during, and on the ride home from UGA football games.
Like her husband, she also loved her Lord and Savior and was dedicated to service as a member of First Baptist Church, where she was instrumental in the creation of multiple Sunday School Classes and a faithful member of the Women's Missionary Union.
Her family meant the world to her, especially her husband.
