Barry Bailey, 78, of Cheboygan, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 in Petoskey,Mi. He was born on July 31, 1943, the son of Betty Newberry and Delbert Bailey in Exetor (sp), United Kingdom. When he was five, Barry and his parents moved from the UK to the United States where he graduated from Richland High School in Richland, Michigan in 1961 before going on to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Barry married the love of his life, Sandra Lee McFarland on August 17, 1974. Barry was a great business man, working at Kellogg's, and then as a salesman for kitchen and bath appliances for many years at Quaker Maid, where he received awards for his outstanding performance and also owned a cabinet business in Cheboygan before retiring. He enjoyed being on the water, boating, hunting, fishing (especially on the ice), going to the casino, dancing with Sandra, antique car and boat shows, and loved music, particularly music from the 50s and 60s. He loved soccer, even coaching for a while, baseball, the Detroit Tigers (discussing them at length with his brother, Larry daily) and the Red Wings. Barry was a member of the Eagles in Cheboygan where he often helped cook.

Barry is survived by his mother, Betty, his children, Mike (Minnie) Sanford, Stacey Bertling, Marcey Beson, Shawn Bailey, Kelly Bailey, and Barry (Tiffany) Bailey II, his grandchildren, Madison and Macallan Sanford, Josh Phillips, Jamie McGinnis, Zachary (Nora)Bailey, Dillan, Mya, and Winnie Bailey, and Dominique Meeder, six great grandchildren, a brother, Larry (JoAnn) Bailey, a sister, Shirley (Rick) August, step-sisters, Kim (Ned) Gieski and Dianna (Mike) Arnold, and a cousin, Caroline Newberry.

Barry is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Lee Bailey, step-father, Ed Pfaffinger, and mother-in-law, Winifred McFarland. Barry had given his life to the Lord.

A funeral will take place at Nordman Christian Funeral Home on Saturday, March 5 at 1pm with family greeting friends beginning at 11am. The burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cheboygan on Monday, May 2nd at 1pm. Barry's daughter, Stacey Bertling will officiate both services.
