Norman Eugene "Gene" Griffin, 78, of Hutchinson, died February 28, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born December 19, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Norman and Irene (Abbott) Griffin.
Gene graduated from Partridge High School in 1963. He worked for Cessna for 42 years, as a machinist and supervisor. Gene belonged to the Hutchinson Jaycee's, serving a term as president. He also served as president of the Hutchinson Collectors Car Club, was a member of Cessna Employee's Club, Sons of the American Legion, and the Sunflower Rambler's Campers Club. He also owned and operated the Hoof and Horn Concessions at the Kansas State Fair with wife Elaine for 31 years. He was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
On May 9, 1981, Gene married Ruth Elaine Mead in Hutchinson. They shared 40 years together.
He is survived by: wife, Elaine Griffin of Hutchinson; sons, Steve Griffin (Phyllis)of Bluffton, Indiana, Bob Griffin (Tara) of Hutchinson, Michael Griffin (Valerie) of South Hutchinson; daughters, Jenna Klein of Kansas City, Missouri, Bonna Reusser of Hutchinson, Keri Martens (Doug) of Topeka; sister, Barb Trimm of Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and many good friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00am Friday, March 4, 2022, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastor Henry Blickhahn officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary or 6:00pm to 8:00 pm with the family present at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
