Evelyn Grace Brown, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday night February 28, 2022 in Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. She had the support and comfort of her loving family by her side. Evelyn was born on August 20, 1929, in Roseboom, daughter of the late Harry and Anna Mae Scott Walton. She was raised and graduated from East Springfield High School. For thirty years she worked in customer service for the New York State Electric and Gas Company in Cooperstown and Chatham. She retired in 2000 and moved to Venice Florida. While living in Venice she was a member of the Lakeside Lutheran Church. In 2017 she returned to the area living in Utica until 2021, when she moved to Ilion to be near her son Lawrence. To all who knew her, they will never forget a smart and creative lady. She made friends easily and was always willing to be helpful, while looking for nothing in return. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Brown of Ilion, Michael Brown of Sacramento, CA, one sister, Shirley Erle and her husband Peter of Endicott, a former daughter-in-law, who devoted much of her time taking care of her personal needs and transportation, Ethyl Brown, two grandchildren, Jason Brown and his wife Kim, Susanne Brown, a great-granddaughter Morgan Brown, a great great-granddaughter Avalon, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Mrs. Brown's request funeral service and interment are private and at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, especially the Emergency Room, third and fourth floor staff for the excellent care and compassion shown Evelyn during this difficult time.
