Barrett Palmer Kemp, 74, of Little Rock, peacefully went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2022. He was born on March 26, 1947, to Woodrow and Hattie Mae Kemp and is preceded in death by his parents.

Barrett (aka ''B'') is survived by his loving wife, Roberta; children, Ashley Nickell (Adam), Aaron Keller (Camille) and five grandchildren (Jackson, Alexandra, Kemp, Henley, Cameron) along with his brother, Bill Kemp (Kay) and many cousins, bonus grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

Barrett was an avid hunter and fisherman, you could often find him riding along the levies of Rowher, AR on his four-wheeler. When not in the woods or on the water ''B'' enjoyed woodworking in his shop building whatever was requested by his family members or friends. These pieces will forever be treasured by them all. Even with this ''country boy exterior'' Barrett was tender-hearted and had a keen ear for classical music. His favorite was Bedrich Smentana's The Moldau. Often times you would find him conducting these pieces as he drove in his pickup truck.

Storytelling was an art that ''B'' perfected over the years. Sometimes telling the same story once, twice…or more. His stories will live on with all that love him even though they will never be told just quite as wonderful.

Everyone has a love language, ''B's'' was taking care of his family and loved ones. No one will ever be able to cook ribs or fry fish (or hushpuppies) like ''B''. Never would anyone worry about having enough food when ''B'' cooked; you could have fed the entire neighborhood or small country every time he cooked a meal.

Barrett always said he would never marry a woman with children. ''Never say never''. He married Roberta who had two children who he lovingly took in as his own. ''B'' was so sure of his love for Roberta and her kids that when he was showing them a house that he was going to purchase while they were dating, he whispered to Aaron that ''this would be his room''. Blended families always come with some hiccups and it is oftentimes difficult to love someone else's children. Not with B. He took Ashley and Aaron in as his own and the four of them built a beautiful life and went on to develop a wonderful and inclusive family for all.

Outside of his direct family, Barrett constructed a work-family as a Farm-Bureau Insurance Agent for more than 30+ years. During those years he and the other agents built solid friendships that will forever live within the halls of that community.

Soon after Barrett and Roberta moved to their home in Saline County, they began visiting the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. ''B'' poured his heart and soul into this Church and would have never missed a moment to help contribute whether in building something new for the Life Center or helping mentor someone within the congregation.

This nurturing, fun-loving, storytelling, one-of-a-kind man will be so very missed but his love lives on within us and through his stories; living forever in our hearts and in our memories.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in Barrett's name to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 27025 Kanis Rd 9599, Little Rock, Arkansas 72223.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with funeral services following Friday morning, March 4th at 10 am. The burial will be 3 pm Friday at McGehee Cemetery in McGehee, Arkansas.
