Mr. Hooper was born Feb. 4, 1914, in Jackson County to Walter and Mabel Hooper.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hooper was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Ruth Buelin Hooper, eight sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife Stella Cothren Hooper of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Gayle (Frank) Hinson of State Road; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Dale (Patricia) Hooper of Greensboro; four grandchildren and spouses; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Truman Hooper; three sisters, Lillian Aldridge, Mozelle Jones, and Edna McClure.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Macedonia Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church cemetery.
