The Rev. Robert Francis Bundy Sr., of Pinehurst, went home to his heavenly Father and Savior on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the age of 82.

He was a devoted pastor, loving husband and father. He began his life on the farms of Elizabeth City when he received his calling into the ministry.

He attended John Wesley Bible College, Asbury College and Asbury Theological Seminary and eventually served in the North Carolina Conference of the Methodist church for 44 years.

After retirement he continued to serve God through visitation, bible studies and interim pastoral appointments. He continued in the promise and praise of the Lord Jesus Christ until his illness leading up to his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Fletcher Bundy and May Ludford Bundy, formerly of Elizabeth City.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Inez Gehrig Bundy, of Pinehurst; his daughter, Lori Bundy McElroy and husband, Steven, and their children, Benjamin Allen McElroy, Joshua Andrew McElroy and Joshua Andrew McElroy, all of Chapel Hill; a son, Robert Francis Bundy Jr. and wife, Michelle Bundy, of Mooresville, and their children, Kelsey Ann Bundy, Robert F. Bundy III and Dylan Carl Rings, and Madison Ann Rings; and a son, Gregory Gehrig Bundy and his son, Jacob Gehrig Bundy, of Pinehurst.

He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Ann Bundy Cooper and husband, Ernest Cooper, and their children, Stephen Cooper and daughter Sharon Cooper all of Elizabeth City; another sister, Shirley Bundy Payton and husband, Lee Payton, and their daughter, Joyce Anne, of Jackson, Miss.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Pinehurst United Methodist Church.
