Roger Davis

June 30, 1949 ~ February 23, 2022

Bradley - Roger "The Wildman" Davis left this Earth peacefully February 23, 2022, at 3:33 p.m., which is God's number. He was at the home he loved in Bradley, with his devoted wife.

He was born June 30, 1949, in Denver Colorado, the second of sixteen children of Harold Stanton and Theresa Elnora (Meredith) Davis.

Roger called himself a "military brat" and loved living in several states, plus France and England as he grew up. His family settled in Bangor in 1963. He graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1969.

He worked at Saliba's, then in the kitchen at Bangor Mental Health Institute while still in high school. He worked at the airport for a few years catering airplanes before going to BMHI fulltime, serving the State of Maine for 34 years. Roger was able to transfer to the Maintenance Department where his interest and expertise were.

Roger had a very curious mind and tried to learn more every day of his life.

He was fascinated by this Earth, electricity, magnets; how everything works. He excelled at being able to produce whatever was needed to fix or modify just about anything. He took pride in being able to outsmart manufacturers who tweaked their products so they could not be repaired.

Roger was a direct, forthright person who never talked behind your back; he would always say it to your face. He was never impressed by power or position, only in a person's honor and integrity. His wife always said: "he is the most compassionate hard-ass I ever met."

Roger took great pride in buying property in Bradley right out of high school. He never rented a day in his life and loved his home until the day he passed. He loved to make people laugh and could be known to exaggerate "just a bit" to get a better reaction. He was very engaging and entertaining. If you met him, you never forgot him! He will be sorely missed.

Roger is survived by his wife and best friend of 32 years; his daughter "who put the light in my heart," and her husband; 2 grandsons; 4 brothers & their families; 5 sisters & their families; sisters-in-law, B. Davis, Davis, L. Davis, and Bailey; brother-in-law, B. Smith; several nieces and nephews; his stepchildren; and eight grandchildren and his best friend, J. Walker.

In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his brothers, Art, Kirk, Phil, Tim and Kevin Davis; sister, Coleen Smith; stepson, Mike Davis; brothers-in-law, Joe Partridge and Ralph Libby; and several nieces and nephews.

Roger was a private, independent man and wanted no services. He will be laid to rest in the spring, at Jonathan Eddy Cemetery, Eddington, at the start of the Bradley Road, which he traveled for over fifty years. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
