Martin, who resided at Pennside, New Castle, Delaware (USA), served as a Flying Officer with the Royal Air Force during WW2
He had served with the Royal Air Force for two years and three months at the time of his death. He was killed in the loss of Tiger Moth II N5481 three miles north of Guinea Fowl airfield while serving in Rhodesia
Also killed was Aircraftman 2nd Class Melville Philip McDermott (772708) of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve
