He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He survived by his widow, the former Fanny Lombardi: two sons, John E. Syme Jr. of Wallingford and Peter Syme of Hollisterville, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Kathleen) Herbig of Meriden; a brother, James Syme of Shelby, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Russo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Meriden.
