Visitation will be held at the Lamar Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00PM.

The burial with Military Honors will be in the Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Delhi.

Born on July 23, 1949, in Delhi, Louisiana to Ernest and Wilma Ogden, John passed into eternal life on
February 27, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones. He was a Squadron Airman in the Unites States Air Force from 1969 to 1972. He then became a farmer until becoming part owner and operator of Ogden's Tire and Diesel located in Delhi. During some of those years, he was Justice of the Peace in Franklin Parish. Later, he helped start Moose's Tire and Lube in Delhi where he eventually retired from.

He had two children, Robbie and Melanie, from is first marriage. He later gained three (step) sons,
Eugene, Tommy, and Ralph, from his second marriage to Jeannie. Together they had a son, Billy Ray.
He illustrated a very interesting life by all the stories he told, and the ones told by family and friends.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed being an Eagle Scout, playing baseball, coaching baseball, attending
hockey games, hunting, fishing, attending auctions, and even working. Later in his life he enjoyed spoiling
his grandchildren and great grandchildren and simply spending time with family and friends.

It is hard to paint this picture of him as just one person. He meant many different things to quite a lot of
people. He had one of those loud belly roll laughs you could hear a mile away and a voice that
accompanied it. He was a man who saw and loved his stepsons as his own and treated them as such. He
had so much love to give and everyone he met got a piece of that love. He had a way with people and
knew how to make you laugh or feel better. He was the type of man who would help you when you
called, no matter what time it was, if he had the means to do so. If he didn't have the means, he tried his
best to find another way to get it done. He was known as a jokester, a collector, a Santa Claus look alike,
a hard worker, a friend, a brother, a father, a hero, Papaw Moose and so much more. As most of us can
agree, the one thing he was most known for was being Moose Ogden, that alone means a multitude.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Ernest A. Ogden and Wilma M. Ogden; wife, Jeannie M. Ogden;
stepson, Ralph E. Guiterrez; grandsons Ethan and Logan ; siblings, Ann Guimbellot, Harvey
Ogden, Jimmie Ray Ogden and Mary "Cookie" Humphries.

He is survived by his children John R. "Robbie" Ogden, Melanie T. Montoya and husband Alex, Billy R.
Ogden, Eugene B. "Gene" Ferrell, Tommy R. Berryhill and wife Amber; grandchildren, Lance, Jessica,
Dakota, Cristan, Charles, Eryn, Gage, Chloe, Maggie, Anna and Teagan; 13 great grandchildren; siblings,
Allen Ogden and wife Evelyn, Steve Ogden and wife Teresa, Barbara Butler and husband Elmo; many
nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Crossroads Hospice of Delhi, Cox Funeral Home in Delhi, Monica Odom, Carol Odom, Yolanda Bishop, Evelyn Dixon, and Mary Beth Westmoreland
