Phyllis was born April 13, 1929, in Anderson, IN, to Joseph Carraway and Maxine (Summers) Carraway. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1947 and went on to graduate from St. John's Nursing School in 1950. Phyllis was married in 1951 to Norman R. Brown and moved to Evansville, IN. She spent the rest of her life there except for 17 years that she and Norman lived in Arizona after he retired. Phyllis worked as an RN at St. Mary's Hospital from 1952 - 1959, at Deaconess Hospital from 1967 – 1969, with Sr. Victor Johnson from 1970 – 1973, and as the Nurse at Reitz High School from 1973 - 1984. She was an active member of The Lutheran Church of our Redeemer. Phyllis was a member of the Three Arts Club, and the Kennel Club. She enjoyed playing Euker, Clabber, Mah Jongg and knitting....
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Maxine Carraway; her loving husband of 58 years, Norman R. Brown; and 3 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1811 Lincoln Avenue with Pastor Tom Wenig officiating.
