Shirley was baptized September 25, 1938 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover, Kansas, and was confirmed at the same church on April 6, 1952. Shirley attended Herynk Country School and was graduated from Hanover High School.
Shirley worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime: Corps of Engineers in Kansas City, Missouri, Topeka State Office Building, Topeka Air Force Dept. Her passion was selling Tupperware and she enjoyed being a Tupperware Manager for many years.
Shirley and Ronald Eugene Hawley, son of James Campion and Isla Jean (Hunter) Hawley, were married July 24, 1960, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. They became parents of twin sons Bruce Lee and Brian Neil who were born on January 13, 1968, in Kansas City, Missouri. The family later moved to Apple Valley, California.
Survivors include her husband Ron, sons Bruce (Jennifer) and Brian (Vickie), brothers Gilmer Gary (Sharon) of Windsor, Colorado and David Lee (Sharon), Colorado; sister Mae (Don) Thomas, Claremore, OK. Shirley is also survived by grandchildren Blake and Jayden Hawley, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Inurnment conducted by Pastor Matt Anderson of Victorville Trinity Lutheran Church was held at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
