Born Nov. 24, 1926, in Polk, she was the daughter of Ralph and Erma (née Hartzel) Arnold. Virginia was a graduate of Polk High School and a member of Polk Methodist Church.
Soft and kind, she was a hard worker. Always compassionate, Virginia was a no-conflict kind of lady who always gave tender care. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting afghans and tending to her garden. More than anything, she loved her grandchildren and family dearly.
Surviving are her children, Gloria (Jeff) McCarty and Barbara (Gary) Workman, both of Ashland, Don Plank of Polk, Deb (Jerry) Gierhart of Nankin, Steven (Joy) Plank, Kathy (Dave Offhaus) Bradford and Cheryl (Harlan) Thomas, all of Ashland; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Winton Arnold; sisters, Portia Gribben and Carolyn Sweet; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doyle Plank; brothers, Richard and James Arnold; and sisters, Donna Conwell and Monica Kohler.
Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Cheryl J. Roshon, will be 1 p.m. today, July 25, 2014, at Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland. Family and friends are invited to visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Polk Cemetery.
