Elmer Hugo Bierman was born on February 7, 1929, the son of Arthur and Elsie (Baugatz) Bierman. He was raised in Bisbee, ND, and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1947. He then furthered his education and attended North Dakota State University in Fargo.
He served in the U.S. Army from June of 1947 He proudly served his country and was stationed in Guam and Korea. He was honorably discharged in July of 1951.
On May 30, 1963, Elmer married Ruth Geraldine "Gerrie" Wymore in Glasgow, Montana. From this union, two sons, Donald and Robert, were born.
Elmer's civil service career began in 1962 at the Glasgow Air Force Base. In 1968, they moved to Grissom Air Force Base. In 1976, Elmer returned to North Dakota, and worked at the Minot Air Force Base. He retired in 1992, after 30 years of civil service.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Gerrie; sons, Donald (Lorrie) Bierman of Lansford, ND, and Robert (Cheryln) Bierman of Minot, ND; step-grandson, Michael Kij of Cheyenne, WY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Florence Howard, Darleth Collier and Loretta Schleff; and brothers, Donald, Lowell, Walter and Willard Bierman.
Private Family Memorial service: Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel in Minot.
Burial with military honors will take place at the Bisbee Community Cemetery at a later date.
