He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Cole and Annie Caldwell Cole; and wife of 47 years, Peggy Mathews Cole. Surviving are his sons, Michael David and his wife, Sandy Cole, and Robert 'Bobby' Walter Cole - both of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Brad (Kim) Cole, Chad (Danielle) Cole, David (Brittany) Cole, Crystal (Casey) Duncan, Courtney (Blake) Stewart, and Tyler Rogers; eight great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Irene Wiggins of Woodstock, GA.
