JOSEPH BURT OF LOPEZ SUMMONED BY DEATH
VICTIM OF HEART ATTACH WHILE AT WORK - RESIDENT OF ISLAND 39 YEARS

Joseph Burt, well known resident of Lopez Island, passed away Monday afternoon, June 2, a victim of a heart attack. Death came without warning while he was assisting with the work about the farm.
Mr. Burt was born February 21, 1852, at Fifeshire, Scotland, and at the time of death was 89 years, three months and 11 days of age. He came to America at an early age, locating in Iowa where he farmed for a number of years, and where at Armstrong, Iowa, on November 12, 1889, he was married to Miss Adella Ormiston. Mr. and Mrs. Burt took up their residence on Lopez Island in 1902, which has since been the family home.
Besides his sorrowing wife, he leaves three children: One daughter, Miss Gladys Burt of Seattle; and two sons, William, of Lopez, and Wallace, of Snohomish; also two grand-sons.
The funeral was held this (Wednesday) afternoon from the Lopez Center church, with Rev. Sam McIvor of the Friday Harbor Presbyterian church, conducting the services. Burial was in the Lopez Center cemetery.
