Melissa Ann Corbitt Newell, age 45, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at her residence following a brief illness. Mrs. Newell was born on April 23, 1976, in Coffee County, Georgia, to Gladys Corbitt and the late James "Boogie" Corbitt.

Survivors include: Two Daughters; Tiffany Rowell of Douglas, GA, Emily Fender of Douglas, GA One Son; Tyler Rowell of Pennsylvania, Three Brothers; Lee Steverson (Brandi) of Douglas, GA, James Ronald Corbitt of Douglas, GA, James Wesley Corbitt of Douglas, GA, Mother; Gladys Corbitt of Douglas, GA, and a Granddaughter; Ellie Rowell. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Her Wife; Tracey Rowell Corbitt, Father; James "Boogie" Corbitt, and a Brother; Terry Wayne Deaton.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Sims Funeral Home, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 2:00PM, at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Jump and Rev. Kevin Bounds officiating. Active Pallbearers will be: Christian Corbitt, Dustin Merritt, Josh Ivey, Lee Steverson, Grant Moore, Carey Moore, and Corey Moore.

Due to the Covid-19 Virus and emerging variants, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all customers, guests, and attendees to wear medical grade masks at all times while in our facility, as well as social distancing. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however the safety of our staff and those we serve are our primary concern. Masks will not be provided.
