Wanda N. Henderson (81), passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, after a long battle with pulmonary disease.

Wanda Jane was born May 30, 1940, in Little Rock, AR.

She later met her future husband, Seggie Henderson of Metairie, LA, while he was stationed at Little Rock Airbase, Jacksonville, AR. They married in 1958 and moved to Metairie where they raised their family.

Wanda retired after many years of service in the credit department at Radiofone communications company and was a member of Metairie Baptist Church.

Survivors include the father of her children: Seggie Henderson, daughters: Deborah H. Richard of Lafayette; Diana H. Danna (Marc) of New Orleans; Melisa H. Landry (Robert) of Metairie; and son: Daniel C. Henderson (Chao) Alhambra, CA. Two sisters: Ann N. Abshire (Chuck) Little Rock, AR; Virginia N. Anderson, Little Rock, AR. 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and her two beloved canine companions: Daisy and Maggie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert O. and Estelle Niehaus; her brothers: Robert T. Niehaus, Charles R. Niehaus and Thomas D. Niehaus; her son-in-law Glen M. Richard.

She loved to spend time with her family and always tried to make every occasion festive and fun. She had an absolute passion for collecting cook books and cooking for her family.

No party was complete without her shrimp mold and special holiday meals always included her delicious sweet potato casserole and corn bread dressing.

Wanda loved to sew, read, travel, shop for antiques and collect: Kewpies, egg plates, cook books, rolling pins, thimbles and anything else that caught her eye. Once she started a "collection" it soon got out of hand!

Wanda will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Tharp-Sontheimer Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 pm, Funeral Service by Rev. Patrick Weaver of Metairie Baptist Church will begin at 2:00 pm at Tharp-Sontheimer Funeral Home followed by a Christian burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001.
