Samuel (Sam) Byrd, age 91 of Oglesby, Texas, passed away on the morning of February 26, 2022.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 pm Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Scott's Funeral Home.
Sam was born on September 13, 1930, in Gatesville, Texas, the only child to the late John Bird and Christine Henson. He grew up in Coryell County, where he was a truck driver most of his life. In his later years he worked for Coryell County where he retired. He enjoyed driving the roads of Coryell County with his dog Oreo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ricky Byrd, grandsons, Robert McFarlin Jr. and Jason Byrd; his siblings: John Wayne, Tommy B, Willard, Henrietta, Tommy K. and Polly.
Sam is survived by his sisters: Elaine Holbrook and Clara Lawson; children: Faye Avila and Jesse, James Byrd and Jan, Kathy Peltier, Debbie Byrd and Pat, Sharron Hohertz and Kevin, and Tammi Warren and Ronnie. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
